LEYA RUBIN
Leya Rubin M.S. CCC-SLP* is an associate in Schneider Speech.
Leya brings 15+ years of experience, with special interest in stuttering. Her calm demeanor and empathetic abilities are coupled with relentless pursuit of research and learning to satisfy her own curiosity and her clients’ needs. As a testament to the alliance Leya nurtures with clients, many people stay in-touch long after “appointments” have ended, and she keeps them in her heart. As a testament to Leya’s outstanding professionalism, many colleagues seek her guidance and counsel and confidently refer their most challenging cases to her.
Leya has a range of experience and expertise including: children with developmental delays, Asperger's Syndrome, velo-pharyngeal insufficiency (VPI), Velo-Cardio-Facial Syndrome (VCFS), Spina Bifida, cerebral palsy (CP), seizure disorders and other rare genetic syndromes, as well as traumatic brain injury (TBI) and stroke survivors living with speech-communication difficulties (aphasia and dysarthria).
Leya completed her undergraduate studies summa cum laude at Touro College, and graduate studies in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Montclair State University. She has received several awards recognizing her academic and professional excellence: Outstanding Scholar Award, Award for Scholarly Achievement and Excellence in Speech, induction into the Alpha Epsilon Lambda, Graduate Student Honor Society.
Leya says it’s the highlight of her career to receive the mentorship of master clinician Phil Schneider and guidance and supervision of Uri Schneider at Schneider Speech. She shares the collaborative honor and responsibility to bring the unique care and professionalism of Schneider Speech to community and surrounding areas of Lakewood, NJ.
Beyond work life, Leya is active in her community, organizing events, volunteer teaching and more. And more than anything else, Leya treasures family time at home with her husband and children, longing for the quiet moments, to take-out her flute and accompany her children who all share her love of music.
